I’ll have a new poem ready soon, along with, somewhat excitingly, a music video…but real quick, I want to mention that I’ll be doing four readings in four cities this week, starting tomorrow. If you’re near one of these places, please consider swinging by!
SHANGHAI 上海
Tuesday, June 11, 8 p.m., free
Where: I Love Shanghai Bar (enter through Orchard CRC Restaurant)
3/F, 1788 Xinzha Lu, Jing’an District 静安区新闸路1788号3楼 (intersection of Xinzha Lu and Jiaozhou Lu)
A dive bar that’s become a neighborhood favorite, I Love Shanghai hosts open mics, jam sessions, and readings. It’s the home base of the local literary collective Inkwell. (Despite the title of my book, there is one Shanghai poem in there, which I’ll read.)

HANGZHOU 杭州

Where: In a Cultural House 纯真年代书吧 (宝石山店)
No. 8 Baochuta Qianshan Lu, Xihu District 西湖区保俶塔前山路8号
Founded in 2000, this bookshop / bar advocates “making reading a way of life.” It holds a variety of literary, artistic, and cultural events, and has become a landmark of sorts on the banks of Hangzhou’s famous West Lake.

A lending library, bookstore, coffee / teahouse, and community space. Founded in 2014, Zuowang now has nine locations in Suzhou. I’m partial to this one because they advance ordered forty copies of We Met in Beijing. Good people!

I could use help getting the word out, so if you have any leads — local WeChat groups, friends who might be interested — I’d be happy to hear from you. Many thanks!
Those photos are great.
I wish I could go to that dive bar tonight
and pretend to read while people watching.
