Never has a city more
Startled. (A poem about Hong Kong)
Back from Hong Kong, where you can now find We Met in Beijing at Bookazine. As part of the Hong Kong Literary Festival last week, I partook in a photography city walk with Joyce Yung, author of Hong Kong in 100 Photos, and was inspired to write the following poem. Hong Kong is a city full of lines—crisscrossing, overlapping, parallel, etc.—so I tried playing around with linebreaks and enjambment, with the help of the underutilized and possibly underrated Courier New font.
